We're In!

Well, we are moved into our new house. I made great progress on the mountain of boxes to be unpacked today. I had carpet guys here today working in my basement to lay new linoleum and carpet and it is looking very nice (pictures later). They will be back Wednesday to finish. Our girls are adjusting and love their new room. I got it all put together today and they were thrilled. Elena keeps telling me that I need to put the pcitures up. I tell her that that will the last thing I do! =) A great big thanks to those who came to help us on Saturday: it went very smooth. We had the apartment all cleaned out and glimmering white by 11:30 am. Jason and his dad worked the rest of the afternoon tearing up the old carpet while his mom and I put the bedrooms and kitchen together enough that we could sleep and find some food. A huge thanks to my sister Monica for taking Elena and Becca and bringing them back along with dinner Saturday night and Jason's sister Janelle for feeding us on Sunday! It was the best thing to do to help us! We are very excited to be in our own home and now let the projects begin!

Before and After

So, here is a picture of the girls' room before I decided to paint it:

And here it is after I painted over those dumb paw prints and rag rolled the whole thing:
Sorry, it is kind of hard to see: the blues were just one shade different from each other.
I love it!
And these are my new black leather couches and recliner that I got for $250 on craigslist:
Up close
All three recline and are very comfy!
When I sit in the recliner, my feet don't touch the floor which is weird for tall me.
And then this morning we came out to see this:
Elena had tied up her dinosaur so it couldn't get away. We thought it was pretty funny!

Easter Fun

We had a great Easter weekend! Jason had the day off on Friday so we were planning on taking a trip to Pocatello to get some yard tools and moving some extra stuff over to our new house. When we got over to the house, we found that the basement had flooded. So, we spent Friday cleaning up the mess and getting it all dried out. Saturday morning we took the girls to the community Easter egg hunt. It lasted for about 30 seconds. Elena found about 5 eggs and Becca none because she spent the time trying to find Elena in the mass of kids. So we gave 2 of Elena's eggs to Becca.
Here they are walking back after the eggs were gone. I just love them holding hands: so cute!
They were more thrilled with the balloons than the eggs anyway. Elena was devastated when hers popped later that day.
Coloring eggs. We only did one dozen and it was perfect.
I had to keep reminding Becca to focus so she wouldn't spill the dye.
In their Easter dresses. Elena actually got this for her birthday from Grandma, but this was the first time she wore it. Purple is Becca's favorite color so this dress was perfect. There they are holding hands again.
Trying to get Mckenzie in the picture. I think she is a little heavy to hold.
Isn't she so cute?
While the girls had "quiet time" on Sunday afternoon, we hid eggs in the yard and the living room. They had fun with their own private egg hunt. I love the look on Becca's face.
Happy Easter everyone!

Hooray!

Well, it is official! We are homeowners! We closed on our house yesterday and can start moving in today if we want. Not sure when we will move but I think it will probably be sooner rather than later. I just need to start packing! For those of you who don't know, we got a STEAL on a black leather couch, loveseat, and recliner. We got all three for only $250! I love craigslist! And the best part was it was someone right here in Blackfoot who was selling them so we didn't have to haul them far. Jon and Monica was nice enough to lend us their big nice truck. I was in Pocatello for doctor's appointments for Mckenzie so we loaded up my table and chairs and new freezer and hauled them here. The girls thought the truck was SO cool! Becca asked me on the way home, "Mom, is this our new car?" I said no and she said that it was so fun! When I told the girls we were going back to Monica's to take the truck back, they said they didn't want to go. Usually when I say we're going to Monica's, they are jumping up and down with excitement. They didn't want to give the truck back! I thought it was so funny that they liked it so much. Thanks Jon and Monica for your generousity! Love you guys!

Beccaism

We went to Jason's parents' house last weekend for Conference. We have been trying to introduce Becca to the idea of potty training with slow results. Olivia (Becca's cousin the same age) is potty trained and so after she went, Becca wanted to sit on the toilet. We didn't have her seat that you put on top of the toilet so she doesn't fall in and Grandma's toilet is kinda big. So I was holding her legs while she sat there. She said, "Mom, don't hold me. I'll hold onto the toilet so I don't fall in the water and become a duck." I thought it was hilarious!

Pictures of Our House

Hey, everyone! Let me take you on a picture tour of our new house! We should close on it by the end of the week! Hooray!
Front view with Jason and girls on the side. We are planning to put a metal roof on and paint the windows and trim this summer. Not sure what color yet.
Front porch
View 1 of the kitchen. The yellow makes it feel happy!
Standing inside the front door looking to the kitchen.
Then turn around and you'll see:
This entry/office type space. We hope our big corner desk will fit there but if not, we'll figure something else out.
Turning around a little more and looking into the living room. It's bigger than it looks in this picture.
The fireplace in the living room. You can see the kitchen off to the side.
Standing in the hallway that comes off the living room. Master bedroom is to the left and bathroom straight ahead. Girl's room is left/behind me.
Looking into the master bedroomHis and Her closets in the master bedroom (YAY!)
I claim this one! (It's bigger!)
Jason's closet
Upstairs bathroom. Notice the nice long counter - a must in MY house! I also really like the color scheme of this bathroom so I don't need to change it. Plus I love the tile in the shower!
Girls' room. I am NOT a fan of the paw prints going around the room. We'll see if it does get changed because Jason likes it.
Door in the kitchen leading downstairs
Stairway. Look at that carpet! That will be changed sometime in the future. My washer and dryer will go at the bottom of the stairs just to the right there. You can see the storage box thing the last owners used to store detergent, etc.
At the bottom of the stairs looking out into the basement. Sorry the picture is so dark!
Downstairs fireplace. It's like a little taste of home for me because my parents have one just like this in their basement.
One little storage area in basement. I think that this will turn into the sort of "play" area where all the toys are put. But only after I change that horrendous carpet!
Downstairs bathroom. Nice counter again! Shower is behind the door. It will be nice having 2 bathrooms - especially with all the girls at our house!
One of the bedrooms downstairs. I will someday take down that "awesome" wallpaper and also put some carpet in there. This is the smallest bedroom.
The closet space in downstairs bedroom
Second downstairs bedroom. Again, carpet has GOT to go sometime!
Second bedroom again
Basement leading to food storage room. The fireplace is just to the right (to orient you).
Ta da! My food storage room! I'm SO excited!
More shelves in same room
Garage door (we hope our van will fit through it! It might be kinda tight!
Elena standing inside the garage. There is a workbench/shop area on the side of the garage which makes it pretty big inside.
The back covered patio. Garage is to the right.
Fruit trees (but we don't know what kind). The yard needs some TLC but we are excited to do that this summer. We are going to plant grass and dig up that concrete circle in the middle of the yard. BTW, the backyard is fully fenced (great for little kids!)
Looking inside the big shed in the backyard. We have alley-access to this shed and it has a concrete slab in front of it. It did have stray cats living in it so it stinks but we'll fix that!
So, that is our house (minus all our personal stuff). I'm super excited and I hope you all think it is as great as we do!
