First Haircuts

While visiting my mom for a couple days, my sister-in-law, Emily, came over to visit too. I was commenting about Becca's hair and how it really needed a trim but I was too nervous to do it. She hasn't had a haircut in her life (as well as Elena). Emily has cut her daughter Kenna's hair (same age as Becca) several times so she said she'd do it. Becca was so good to sit still while Emily trimmed it.
First lock off.
It looks a lot better: not so stringy and four hundred layers.
Well, Elena didn't want to be left out so I let her get her hair trimmed too. We just shorted up the sides since when it's curly, they end up being longer than the back. It was kind of sad because it's taken her 4 years to get this much hair so we didn't take much off.

She was so excited!
See, not much different. And see my lovely mom in the background: she's so pretty!

Visiting Grandma

I went to visit my mom for a couple days and made sure to stop and visit my Grandma Woodland. She calls me often and I haven't been to see her for quite awhile. It was fun to visit for an hour and my kids loved playing with the toys. I made sure to get a picture of Mckenzie with her since my other girls have their own pictures.
Mckenzie was very friendly
I'm glad she let Grandma hold her. She can be a little particular about stuff like that.
Love you Grandma!

Memorial Day

We had a fun Memorial Day. We were going to get together with Chris and Janelle but Ryan was too sick so we ended up having a BBQ lunch with just our little family. I planted the garden in the morning and now I hope it will grow along with the grass we planted on Saturday. After some naps all around, Jason put the girls in the bike trailer and took off to the park while I followed with Mckenzie in the van. The girls LOVE going to the park and it was such a nice day. Proof that we were there:
Becca could hang there all by herself! She is such a monkey!
Elena looking like she's about to do something devious.

Jason pushing the girls on the swings and then taking a break.

Mckenzie hanging out with me. She's so cute!
Just had to include this one. Look at those big blue eyes!
We weren't able to visit any graves but we certainly thought about those that had passed before.

New Bike Trailer

We bought this bike trailer last week so Jason could pull the girls behind him. They LOVED it and now I'm jealous and feel like I need a bike so I can ride along with Mckenzie.

They are a little bit cramped but don't care a bit!

Elenaism

I was quizzing Elena on what letters words start with. My brother Seth was listening.
Me: "What does 'people' start with?"
Elena: "um...P."
Seth (smart aleck that he is): "So what does 'pee' start with?"
Elena: look of confusion
Me: "Pee, you know like when you go in the toilet?"
Elena: "Pretzel."
Makes sense to me!

Beccaisms

Jason was drinking a glass of V8 Juice and Becca asked him what it was. He told her it was blood and asked if she wanted some. She said, "We don't drink blood............do we?"

We were eating dinner and Jason called Elena a knucklehead because she was being so silly. Becca then called him a knucklearm and when that got a laugh, she said, "knucklelips." That launched into a game of "Knuckle-any body part you can think of" that got us all laughing. "Knucklelips" was my favorite.

Happy Mother's Day

When Jason asked me what I would like for Mother's Day, I told him that I didn't really need anything. I mean I'm in my new house, I got new carpet in the basement, and a new lawn mower for the yard. What else should I get? I did say that I wouldn't mind some chocolate because what woman doesn't like getting chocolate?!?! I went to bed Saturday night knowing that Jason hadn't been to the store to get anything, so I figured I wasn't going to get chocolate for Mother's Day after all. The next morning I woke up to find this:
Those are Reese's peanut butter cups and KitKats. I couldn't help but smile for having such a wonderful, thoughtful husband. The best part is the explaination Jason gave:
He was watching Saturday Night Live at about 11:15 PM when they did a skit on Mother's Day. He said he sat straight up in his chair and went, "Oh crap! I forgot!" So I guess he ran to the store and redeemed himself. =) Plus, he made me fajitas for lunch and they were SO yummy! Then I got to take a 2 hour, non-interrupted nap. Oh, the bliss! I had a great day and am enjoying my beautiful roses and yummy chocolate!

Aliens have Landed!

Would you take a look at this picture! It looks like aliens bombed our backyard! Actually, we had a big round cement pad in the middle of the yard and Jason broke it up a couple days ago. Then last night he dug the trench and removed a row of bricks that had been overgrown. This is all in preparation to till the whole yard and start over (you can see it doesn't look that great to begin with). But until then, we're claiming we got abducted by aliens!
