Exciting Day

Today I had my doctor's appointment. That went well. Then I went over to Ridley's because they are having their case lot sale and I needed to get stuff for me and my sister and she was watching my kids while I did it. While I'm amongst all the crazy shoppers, Monica calls me and tells me that Becca has fallen down the stairs and probably needs a stitch or two in her lip. All right, so I go get her and take her to the doctor and, sure enough, they put a stitch in her lip. She was fine and hasn't acted like it's bothered her at all. Sorry I don't have a picture. Life is full of little surprises, especially when it comes to kiddos.

Our New Addition

Before you get too excited, our new addition is not a baby. Nope, she is still cooking in the oven. No, our new addition is a new van! As most of you know, we've had a minivan for our whole married life, but we traded her in for a newer model. I must admit, though, it felt like leaving a member of the family behind. *sniff* BUT take a look at our new ride! I am super duper excited about it. We've been looking on and off for a van for a couple years and we finally found an awesome deal after a couple not-so-pleasant shopping experiences (i.e. someone beating us by 5 minutes to another van that would have been nice and a dealership who was, should we just say, somewhat dishonest jerks). This beauty is a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country with 85,000 miles. Now if you are at all minivan-savvy, Town & Countrys are like the luxury van (at least in my book) and this one is SO nice! And we got it for WAY below blue book. We even asked the guy why he was selling it so low and he offered to raise the price if it would make us feel more comfortable. We declined. Now we have matching vehicles since our other car is almost the same color. Not quite as pretty as a red van, but I'll live. =)

Can't wait to show it off to you all in person! In the meantime, we are waiting patiently for the arrival of our REAL new addition to take her spot in our new minivan.

Birthday Follow-up

Well, I had a good, fairly uneventful birthday. We went to the Blackfoot vs. Preston soccer game so Jason could see some of his wrestlers and fellow coaches. Then we came home and my sister Monica and her 5 kids had come and brought cake with them. So we cooked pizza and ate cake. Here are some pictures from the party:
The cake Monica made for me with the fire on top. (Jason got me a pie but it was still cooking in the oven so we ate that later.) BTW, I blew out all the candles in one try. But I forgot to make a wish before doing it. Oh well!
Opening the gift from my mom - a really nice soft bathrobe. I was excited!

My gift from Jason. When I opened it, I said, "Oooo, hellooo Tom!" My nephews in the background didn't fully understand why this was cool.

The gift from my girls - chocolate! Looks like I'm bringin' em up right!
No, but the story does not end there! After the party, Monica left and I put my girls in the tub. I got them all ready for bed and we read scriptures and said prayers. As I was walking out of the room, I heard Becca make "that sound." I turned the light on and found that she had just puked all over her bed. Great! It wouldn't have been SO bad but I had just washed all her bedding that day! Jason said, "Of course, who wants to puke on DIRTY sheets?" It just can't ever be the easy way! So I rush her to the bathroom where she continued to puke on the floor and in the toilet. I throw her back in the tub since that is the only way to really clean them up and bath her again. Meanwhile, Jason's parents have called to wish me happy birthday and I tell them that Becca has just given me another little present and I'll have to call them back in a little bit. I get Becca in bed but she's upset because she doesn't have her blanket. I convince her that I'll bring it to her when it gets out of the dryer.
Somewhere around 1:30am, Becca starts to cry. I go in and realize that she is going to puke. So I rush her to the bathroom (protect that bedding!) where she pukes all over the floor. While she cries, I clean it up and decide that we'll both sleep on the couch so I can get her a bowl the next time. She hasn't gone to sleep an hour later and is sitting on my lap. She gives no warning signs and proceeds to puke all over me and herself. Great! Luckily I just got a new bathrobe for my birthday! =) So I go and change me clothes and leave the dirty ones in the bathroom (the bathroom now REALLY stinks of vomit) and leave Becca just in a diaper. I finally get her asleep around 3:30 am and I crash as best a pregnant woman on a couch can crash. Needless to say, I am quite the zombie today because then both girls were awake at a bright and cheerful 7:00 am. Oh, how I wish that were more like 9:00 am but that's motherhood! So, thanks for all the Happy Birthday wishes and may your own birthdays not end with such a bang! =)

Quarter Century

Today is my birthday and I am 25 years old. I don't feel that old - I still feel 19 but I guess with almost 3 kiddos, I have to be that old. Not that I think 25 is old but it's one of those ages that always seemed a long ways away! So far I don't have any fantastic plans for today. I cleaned my kitchen and went to the store. We'll see what happens later.

Sports Illustrated

A couple weeks ago I ordered my moisturizer online. As a result, I was able to fill out a survey and get 4 magazines for a year for only $2/magazine. So I chose Reader's Digest, Family Fun, Time (I think), and Sports Illustrated. The last two were chosen with Jason in mind of course but I forgot to say anything to him about it. Well, the first Sports Illustrated showed up yesterday. When he got home from work, he saw it and said, "Where did this come from?" I told him and he got so giddy excited! He gave me a big ol' hug and kiss and just smiled. I thought he'd be excited but I wasn't expecting that kind of reaction. But I'll take it. So, he is just jazzed that he gets Sports Illustrated for a year for only $2! You're welcome, honey!

Butterfly Wings

A couple days ago, Elena wanted to make butterfly wings, crowns, and magic wands. I had to put on my thinking creative cap (very hard when you're pregnant and not extremely creative in the first place) to come up with a way to make them with what we had. I made crowns out of paper plates but messed up because I cut the holes too big for my girls' heads. Oops! I didn't attempt wands because I just didn't want to, but I'm very proud of the butterfly wings! AND I was industrial because I used paper that had already been "used" (scribbled on by Becca). Aren't they cute?!? If anyone wants to know how I did it, feel free to ask because I will share my stroke of genious!

Sorry, no pictures of the crowns.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Becca! Today she is two years old! My baby is growing up WAY too fast! We had a good day - Jason had work off because of Labor Day so he got to be around for the whole day. We went to Chris and Janelle's house to rendevous with G&G Winward and Aunt Sara for lunch and cake. Here are some fun pictures:
I bought some balloons and I think she was more excited about those than anything!
Riding cousin Ryan's little bike (even though it was slightly chilly outside!)

The cake (thank you, thank you very much)

Isn't she just so cute?
Clothes and hair clips from G&G Winward

More clothes from G&G Woodland (always a needed gift!)

I just love this look of concentration as she carefully opens her "big" gift.

Becca actually picked these out herself. I had no idea what to get her so I took her to the store and we walked through toys and I let her choose. I tried to talk her into a different doll that I thought was really cute, but Elena helped to convince her to choose one with two babies. Hmmmm...that girl has brains.

The girls have had a ton of fun feeding "their" (Becca's) babies with bottles, changing diapers, giving naps, etc. And, no, this does not mean I'm having twins if anyone was wondering. =) Like I said, she picked it herself.
