Woodland Song 2009 Edition

So, I wrote this song for my side of the family. I tried to upload the MP3 of me actually singing it, but it wouldn't work. So, if anyone knows how to make that work, I'll post it (despite my mediocre singing voice). Therefore, here are the lyrics. Many of you don't even know these people but I hope you enjoy it anyway!

Woodland Song: 2009 Edition
Written by Camille Winward (to the tune of “American Pie”)

A long, long time ago
Mom and Dad were introduced
By a certain mutual friend
And Mom thought Dad was pretty cute
He was a farmer and smelled of Brute
But the mustache is what got her in the end.
So they got married, it was June
Moved to the farm and all too soon
A baby on the way
MJ came, oh happy day!
How could they know this little boy
Was the first of nine to enjoy
And all that we would destroy?
That’s how we all got here.

Oh
My, my camping in July
Stories greater, playing later
All these kids in supply
We left our homes
Kissed civilization goodbye
Sayin’
“Maybe Mom will make us a pie”
“Maybe Mom will make us a pie”

Michael John grew up one day
Married Cody and moved far away
But they’ll come back, or so they say
Ah, Daniel has an interesting tale
Of trying to fly without fail
To Spain. That didn’t work out so well, by the way.
Well, we know Martin is very smart
We ask him how to fix our cars
And computers, yes it’s true
Plus he married Sara too
Monica met Jon, they were not afraid
To start a family, a baby factory by trade
Six kids, enough for their own parade
Oh yes, and now we’re here

We started singin’
My, my camping in July
Stories greater, playing later
All these kids in supply
We left our homes
Kissed civilization goodbye
Sayin’
“Maybe Mom will make us a pie”
“Maybe Mom will make us a pie”

In high school Seth was a well-known guy
But his bouncing we saw, he might deny
Just what a goofball he can be.
Camille read the comics just cuz she could
Never laughed even when you thought she should
But Jason has cured that, can’t you see?
Oh, and Crystal likes to study rocks
She used to collect them in a box
And when Dallan tries to talk
We think he’s half Ewok!
And about Garrett what can we say?
Just that he really likes to play
Computer games for most the day
And yes, we’re all still here.

We were singin’
My, my camping in July
Stories greater, playing later
All these kids in supply
We left our homes
Kissed civilization goodbye
Sayin’
“Maybe Mom will make us a pie”
“Maybe Mom will make us a pie”

There are a few more people in our fam
I’ll tease them just because I can
And I love them oh so well
Now Emily is quite the cook
She likes to sew and make scrapbooks
She puts up with Seth, what an angel!
Oh, and Kellen likes to ride his horse
And drive his giant truck, of course!
There’s so many names to touch on
Like Cody, Sara, Jason, and Jon
And what’s this about Laura I hear?
She took out a few helpless deer
When her pink car, she forgot to steer
But hey, she is still here!

We are singin’
My, my camping in July
Stories greater, playing later
All these kids in supply
We left our homes
Kissed civilization goodbye
Sayin’
“Maybe Mom will make us a pie”
“Maybe Mom will make us a pie”

If you think that’s where the family ends
You’re in for a shock, yes my friends
Let me name them one by one:
Seth, Stetson, Savannah Marie
Gabe, Megan, Danzel, and Liberty
And don’t forget Juliet, oh, she’s so fun!
There’s Caleb, Kade, and Kenna Roo
Elena, Becca, Mckenzie too
Luke, Lyndsay, and Lillian
Stiles, Marcus, Erica, Hunter, and William
Believe it or not we’re still not through
Skye, Mason, Baby Woodin too
Will very soon make their debut
And then we’ll all be here

And we’ll be singin’
My, my camping in July
Stories greater, playing later
All these kids in supply
We left our homes
Kissed civilization goodbye
Sayin’“Maybe Mom will make us a pie”

Now, I realize that our family won't really "all be here" because we just keep multiplying and replentishing and that is why this is the 2009 edition! =)

Sewing Project #2

I finished Mckenzie's levi quilt. I used my mom's quilting machine to quilt the flowers. It turned out pretty cute. I am now working on a darling skirt for me. I will post a picture when I finish.

24th of July Celebration

Our stake had a 24th of July celebration and we had a lot of fun at it. Of course there was food and then lots of activities. We started with a family picture. I think it turned out really good:
They had horse rides for the little kids. Elena and Becca chose to ride together for the first ride.
Elena "milking" the cow
Becca "milking" the cow
checking out the piggies
I picked up this backpack at DI for $2 and decided that it was an excellent investment since I can tote Mckenzie around without killing my arms.
Elena won although I did think Becca would
Jason took a turn since it was pretty hot
Elena trying to duck someone
Becca didn't get her either...
The girls wanted to go for another ride on their "own" horse. So I let them.
What a fun activity!

Woodland Camping Reunion

This year we had a Woodland Family camping trip. Usually we go to Lake Powell every year but this year, the trip is in September so many of us cannot go. We went camping to Massacre Rocks and had a great time. It was hotter than Hades but we had fun none the less. I got a couple good waterskis in and a couple crazy tube rides. Sorry, no pictures of either. Jason decided that his knee just wasn't doing well enough to go remote camping in the heat. So, he went to his parent's house and then I picked him up to spend Saturday (the last day) with us.
My sister Crystal holding Mckenzie for me
Emily painting Elena's toenails. Elena thought it was great!
Becca painting her plate...over and over again.
Examing fingernails to be painted next
On Friday we went swimming at Indian Hot Springs, which was a great way to beat the heat! Elena and Becca were brave and went off the big slide 20+ times. I forgot to mention that Elena also went on a belly board ride behind the boat! She thought she was pretty hot stuff after not falling off.
Becca played so hard and was so exhausted...
I wrote a song about my family that I will have to post in a different post. It was pretty funny and it was fun to share.
You can see how hot it is by how red their faces are!
See, Jason was there!
Me breaking down our camp. I'm getting pretty good at it.
All in all, a great trip!

Independance Day

This post is rather late but better late than never. We had a good time for the 4th of July. We started off at the parade with Chris and Janelle and their kids. They staked out an awesome spot in the shade so it was nice and cool.
Becca, Elena, Olivia, and Ryan waiting for it to start
Mckenzie watching from the stroller
Rebecca watching
Elena's pretty curls
After the parade we went up to the carnival that was a TOTAL ripoff. I'm glad we got there before they started taking the $5/person to get in and could see that there just wasn't anything worth spending money on. The kids did want to get in the tire of this monster truck:
Becca
Elena
The rides were way too expensive so we took the kids to the air conditioned mall and let them ride the 50 cent rides there.
Jason and I came back to Blackfoot and did the fireworks here. They were pretty good and the girls love them.
What a great day!

Sewing Project #1

For my first sewing project with my new fabric, I decided to take this piece and try making a curtain for the office window. I don't love love it simply because it isn't quite big enough, but it doesn't look too bad and it was a good piece to begin learning how to make curtains on. All that embroidery is really pretty.
I am working on finishing Mckenzie's denim quilt. There was a piece of fabric that fit it perfectly and I just need to bind it. Pictures when I finish...

Winward Family Reunion

This past weekend was the Winward Family Reunion. All that attended are decendants of Jason's grandparents, Thane and Evelyn Winward. There were over 200 people who attended and it was a blast!
Becca watching the Fish Pond where every kid got a cowboy hat
Becca's cowboy hat
Jason and his hurt knee
Janelle holding Mckenzie. Thanks to Jason's family for helping me with the kids!
Becca hanging out at the sandbox
Elena in her hat. Isn't she so cute!
Posing for the camera
This is where Jason slept. We borrowed this chair from Monica and Jon and it was a lifesaver for him!
Despite being laid up, Jason still had a great time!
Ouch! That looks painful!
Elena and Becca coloring
Loving the Slip-N-Slide
All the Eagle Scouts in the family. Pretty impressive if you ask me!
Me and Becca enjoying the Country Hoe-Down. This is where Jason sang his song. For a recording, see post below.
Jason and a very tired Elena
Mckenzie and her medal for "racing" in the under 1-year-old group (aka Mom carrying her across the finish line)
Me trying to convince Becca that is would be fun to race. She didn't think so.
I picked her up kicking and screaming to finish the race to get a medal. She said she didn't want one, but I knew that once the tantrum was over, she would change her mind. Bottom line: she was SO tired and needed a nap.
Elena running in the 4-year-old race. She even plowed over another girl.
Proudly displaying her medal and licorice
Becca's medal after she had calmed down
Me running in the Female 21-30 category. I won!
My medal

I got TWO pieces of licorice...and a cramp in my leg
The mothers/grandmothers stretching for their power-walk race
Uncle Lamar leading the stretching
Go, go! Jason's mom is in the red
Now the dad/grandpas turn
Jason's dad running sideways. Why? We do not know!
Elena and Ryan
Becca waiting for the pinata to break
Oh, so cute!
I love my Becca...even when she is cranky
Mckenzie hanging with Janelle again
Becca showing off her pinata candy
Well, we had a great time! It was wonderful to see everyone again and play so hard!
