Great Quote from the LA Times

LA Times said it - Quote of the Week

Who would have thought that the LA TIMES would even allow it on their pages??

Quote Of The Week

"Frankly, I don't know what it is about California, but we seem to have a strange urge to elect really obnoxious women to high office. I'm not bragging, you understand, but no other state, including Maine, even comes close. When it comes to sending left-wing dingbats to Washington, we're number one. There's no getting around the fact that the last time anyone saw the likes of Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi, they were stirring a cauldron when the curtain went up on 'Macbeth'. The three of them are like jackasses who happen to possess the gift of blab. You don't know if you should condemn them for their stupidity or simply marvel at their ability to form words."

I'm a Jewelry Lady!

So, many of you know that I have joined a jewelry selling business. I am so super excited about it! The company is called Premier Designs and I've been working like crazy to get everything together and ready for my debut show to be held on Saturday, February 6th. I have had a ton of fun playing in the jewelry and wearing it every day. It makes me feel so pretty! I wish I could post pictures of some of it, but I'm not allowed to do so. I know, I'm a dork and I read ALL the stuff they sent me and it says that we are not to do such things on the internet. And since I don't want to get in trouble for doing such things, I'm just going to go along with that! But, if you want to see a catalog, I can probably get you one to look at. They have over 800 pieces available for pretty reasonable prices. This is high fashion jewelry so it is comparable to what you would find in a department store. If you would like to host a home show, you will NOT be sorry! The hostesses are spoiled! If you're interested, I can certainly tell you a little bit more about how they are spoiled! =) I cannot wait to get going! This is going to be the best job ever! Also, even if you didn't get a physical invite to my debut show, you are more than welcome to come! Bring on the BLING!!!

Donna Robinson Woodland

My paternal grandmother passed away on Monday, January 4, 2010. It was peaceful, and she was surrounded by her children. We are happy she is with Grandpa and Janet again! These are some pictures from her funeral.
A family picture at the viewing. It was warm: you can see our red cheeks!
At the cemetary
All the sons/son-in-laws were the casket bearers.
Spray of roses before
All the sons/grandsons/great-grandsons were wearing a red flower and here they are taking them off to put in Grandma's bouquet.
Bouquet with all the flowers included.

I love you, Grandma! We'll miss you!

Pierced Ears

So, I've never had any desire to have my ears pierced. I just haven't. I don't even OWN a pair of earrings...until now. I am now a jeweler with Premier Designs and that means I'm going to have A LOT of earrings, most of them pierced. Well, how can you OWN them and not get to WEAR them?!?! So, after thinking about it for several weeks and asking Jason's opinion about it, I did it. I pierced my ears on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. I was a little nervous because this felt like commitment. I had my sister help me mark them before I even went it so I was sure the holes were where I wanted them. It didn't hurt. It only pinched. And I am "marked" for life! =) The only bummer is I have to leave my studs in for 6 weeks and wear only post earrings for 6 months and all my new jewelry comes next week! I have a feeling I'm going to cheat on the post thing after 6 weeks is over. I am excited and I think that I'll like it.

Kitchen Curtains

When we bought our house, all the current window treatments were left behind for us. I was okay with that since I liked them. Well, more and more I've disliked my kitchen window treatments! They are plain white, are a pain to tie up/let down, etc. So, I decided that my after-Christmas sewing project would include new curtains for my kitchen windows since the windows themselves are new too. This is the beginning of a small kitchen makeover to add some more color to my very white kitchen.
Kitchen before (remember concentrating on the curtains right now)
First curtain over sink
Whole kitchen
Sorry this turned out so dark but you have to see them straight on. Now I don't have to bend over to look UNDER the curtain to see out!
The part of the kitchen makeover will be some paint on the cabinets but I don't know how soon that will happen.
And a totally unrelated picture but cute just the same:
I love their little bums in the air!
