Trampoline Tricks

I got this cute video while we were visiting Jason's parents in Montpelier. It made me smile because it reminded me of days long ago when we used to do the same thing on my grandma's trampoline.

First Harvest

Our ward had a cake auction as a fundraiser for the Cub Scouts. I made a ladybug cake (I didn't get any pictures but I plan to make the same one for Becca's birthday coming up) and we bought this one. It was SO heavy! We're not Green Bay fans, but it is cool just the same.
Now to a healthier post:
We were finally able to harvest something from our garden. This is our cucumber. It was delicious! Rebecca was happy to help gobble it down. Elena, not so much. She said it was "weird." We are watching the pumpkins take over the planet and the corn grow taller, and the tomatoes and carrots getting closer each day. The girls want to go check with me every day. There is a particular apple they are keeping track of on the tree. I hope the bugs stay away from it long enough for us to eat it. Growing things yourself is so much fun!

Sewing Project #5 and #6

So, I've been loving sewing! I made nursing covers for my two sisters who both had baby boys. I forgot to get a picture of the first one before I gave it to my sister but here is the second one. It really was so easy! I don't know why people are charging $30+ for them plus shipping. I made this one for less than $5 (even though I didn't have to buy the fabric but assuming I had) and it only took me about an hour. I should have modeled it but I didn't so oh well.
After I finished the nursing covers, I made another skirt for me. It turned out really cute and I wore it to church today and got a couple compliments on it. Photography is by Elena: she didn't do too bad!
I'm not sure what my next project will be. Maybe I'll start getting busy on Christmas dresses for my girls.

Family Pictures

We just celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary on August 15th. As my gift, we went and got family pictures done in Idaho Falls at the Bamboo Gardens. It was so gorgeous! Michelle Heaps took our pictures and she did an amazing job! There were way too many to post them all so here are my very favorites.

Fuuny Elenaism

Last night we were eating dinner and asking Elena how you say certain words in Spanish. She was doing pretty well. Jason threw her a curve ball when he asked, "How do you say 'aaaahhhhhh' in Spanish?" She said she didn't know and he replied with, "Aaaahhhhhhh!" Then Elena looked at me and whispered, "How do you say 'crazy monkey'?" It was funny!

New Roof

This last weekend we got our roof replaced. The old roof was coming off and with all the rain we got this year, it was literally washing off the house. We initially wanted a metal roof but after realizing how expensive they are, we changed our minds to shingles and I am very pleased with the results.
This was the roof before. You might have to click on the picture to enlarge it to see it better
After. Sorry it's hard to see. I took the picture too late in the day.
But here is a view of the back
Now we have plans to get the windows replaced and then paint the house and trim. We don't know if that will all get done this year or have to wait until next summer.
A funny Elenaism associated with the roof: When the roofing guys were taking off the old shingles, it was rather noisy. Elena asked what all that noise is and we said that maybe it was Santa Clause. Her eyes got wide and then we said, "No, it's not Christmas yet!" (For those of you who have ever watched Muppet Classic Theater with the Three Little Pigs and the whole Santa coming early thing might giggle) Anyway, yesterday she asked me if she could go outside to look at the new roof. I said sure and she went out, backed up, and studied it for a minute. Then she came back and said, "Well, Santa isn't up there right now but Christmas is tomorrow, so he should be back." I couldn't help but laugh right out loud. "He's EARLY!" LOL

Sewing Project #4

Here is my latest sewing project: another skirt for me. Elena is getting impatient and keeps asking when I'm going to make something for HER. Yeah, and just so you know, when the pattern says, "Easy sewing 1 hour projects," DON'T BELIEVE IT! Yeah, maybe if you were a professional seamstress and the pieces were already cut out, you could maybe put it together in an hour. Me, it took more like 3.5 altogether (I had to stop several times and go over 3-4 days). I am really enjoying sewing. I find it is a great way for me to relieve stress these days.

It Still Fits!

Today I tried on my wedding dress to see if it would fit 6 years and 3 kids later. It was a little tight around the waist but it fit. I was so excited! Jason took pictures as proof (and he said I looked hot!). Again, sorry they are blurry. Don't know why.
I thought this was a little funny with Mckenzie at my feet.

I let the girls try on my veil. I still think it is so pretty!

It went clear to the floor on Becca
Then Mckenzie's turn

So cute!

Really Cool Picture

This last weekend we took a little jaunt down to Utah to get together with some of the guys Jason was in the MTC with and their families. On the way down, we decided to stop in SLC and do Temple Square with the girls. We didn't get to do a whole lot because of Jason's knee but we enjoyed what we could.
I thought this picture turned out incredible with the flag and clouds and of course the temple.
The girls thought it was really cool to see the statue of Christ. I don't know why my camera only took blurry pictures.
They also liked being so close up to the temple. And they were excited that "there was an angel on top."
A funny Beccaism: Right before we left Blackfoot, Becca broke her new flip flop so I had to put her tennis shoes on instead. In the visitors center, there are mannequins downstairs that depict scripture studies. When she was looking at Peter she said, "Look, he has new flip flops!" It was pretty funny.

Sewing Project #3

Here is the skirt I made for myself. Sorry the picture is slightly blurry: my camera is having some issues for some reason. Also, this angle isn't that great to show it off. It hangs down like a Tinkerbell skirt. Oh well. It is cute on and fun to wear. I am excited to try other styles to enhance my wardrobe.
