Fall Fun

This post will be a compilation of most of this fall so far. We begin with us all bundled up for a football game. This was on Mckenzie's birthday. We lasted until half-time and then I took the girls home. It was just too cold!

Last week I raked all the leaves into a pile. Then the girls proceeded to undo my pile:
We grew pumpkins in our garden this year. The plants were taking over the planet and I thought I would end up with more pumpkins than I knew what to do with. Turns out we only had about 10 small-medium ones which was just perfect. For Family Home Evening, we pulled out the sharpie markers and all decorated a pumpkin. Well, I did all 3 girls' but they told me how they wanted it:

Becca supervising
Mckenzie was so cute! She took the cap of a marker and pretended to color her pumpkin.
Our Pumpkin Family in order. Yes, I know mine is EXTREMELY ugly but that is what happens when you are on your 4th pumpkin!
Today we took the two biggest of our pumpkins and carved them. Elena and Becca liked "digging" in them to get the "nuts" out.
I forgot to get a picture of the final carving but I will try to remember to get pictures when we're all dressed up on Halloween. My girls cannot wait!

My Princesses

I finished Becca's princess dress this week. It turned out so cute! It made me feel really good when Jason said that he was really impressed that I was able to make these dresses without any real training and having them turn out so good. I had her try it on to make sure it fit and decided I might as well snap a couple shots:
So cute!

Well, since Becca got to try hers on, Elena wanted to try on hers again. So I let her.
Silly girl!
I thought this picture was priceless! My two princesses all dressed up.
Okay, girls! Now go take those off!

Sewing Project #8

This is Elena's Princess Dress. I am so proud of myself! Yes, it took me 2 hours to do one sleeve and 1 hour to do the other (it would've been faster but I put it on inside out the first time), BUT I got the zipper in on the FIRST try! If Elena wants to be a princess for Halloween, I'll let her wear it. But then I'm taking it away and sending it to Santa to bring back for Christmas. Now I plan to make one similar for Becca. Hopefully it will go a little quicker the second time around!
Close up of the bodice. I LOVE the sheer embroidery fabric!

Sewing is SOOOOO fun!

Mckenzie is 1!

Today is Mckenzie's 1st birthday! It is weird because I can remember very clearly the day she was born. It is hard to believe that a whole year has passed since she came into our family and made quite a splash, but I guess time flies when you're having fun!
Nothing spectacular about her cake. A square one here with 12 cupcakes for easier feeding.
Now Dad, this is MY cake!
She was a little timid at first...
Then she got into it!
All done!
So we changed her clothes and opened presents.
Her own coloring book to destroy any way she wants
New stacking rings since our old one is missing a ring or two.
We love you Mckenzie! Happy Birthday!

Sewing Project #7

I finally got around to making curtains for the girls' room. I was going to use the white eyelet fabric, but it wasn't long enough and I couldn't figure out how to make it work. So, I used this fabric instead. I am very pleased with the result since it covers the window but still lets the light in. The room is very poorly lit so any natural light we can get is good.

I apologize for the slightly blurry pictures. I think my camera got dropped one too many times. I think I'm going to need a new one for Christmas!

New Red Addition

Last weekend we sold our Ford Contour. It was a very good car and I confess that I do miss it some.
Goodbye, old friend!
And say "Hello!" to our new addition to take its place:

Jason is so excited to have his "Clark Kent" trunk. Here he is getting it all spiffed up.

Purty, aint it?
Love the sun reflecting off the windshield in this picture.

Sewing Project #4 Part 2

After completing this skirt and not being happy with its length, I decided to add a ruffle at the bottom. I like the results much better! It is longer and just that much cuter!
